Reading and poetry for health

Our reading and poetry session can be quiet and soothing, but also stimulate discussion amongst participants. An afternoon session of poetry can help settle and relax those who are experiencing levels of anxiety. Reading poetry has been shown to have huge benefits for dementia sufferers too.

Poetry improves brain function through its use of rhythm and metaphors engaging readers and listeners in the poet’s images and meaning.

Our practitioners perform when reciting poetry and reading prose, which brings the written word to life.
