Fundraise for us

There’s plenty of ways you can get involved and use your hobby, passion or skill to do some fundraising for Independent Arts! Or you could take on something completely new in order to raise funds!

We would love to hear your fundraising ideas, and if you need any advice, support or tips our community fundraiser would be more than happy to help.

So, what can do you to raise some funds? The list is endless, but here’s some ideas:

  • Fun Run – either your own challenge or sign up for an organised challenge event
  • A distance challenge – walk, run, cycle or swim a set distance over a week or month
  • Host a quiz night (on Zoom or in person!) – ask friends and family for an entry fee to a themed quiz night
  • Host an online art club – gather some friends on zoom (or in person) for a drawing, painting or creating evening, and ask everyone to contribute what they can to the collection!
  • Bake off – host an office or family bake off
  • A special occasion collection – set up a JustGiving page and nominate Independent Arts as your chosen charity, asking for donations in lieu of gifts for a birthday, anniversary or Christmas!

Community Champions

Why not volunteer and join our team as one of our Community Champions? This helps support Independent Arts more than just financially by supporting our team with all things fundraising.

This could include volunteering at our events, cheering our fundraisers on as they complete their various challenges, representing Independent Arts at events or simply introducing the charity to your network of community groups and promoting our work!

To join our team of Community Champions simply email [email protected] for further information. You’ll also be the first to receive one of our brand-new fundraising packs!

Cowes Moovers 2021 – gift in kind

It’s never easy moving office and when it’s heavy desks, year’s worth of art materials and files upon files of paperwork that charities have to keep for several years, it’s no fun at all!

With a pending move and funding under pressure due to Covid-19 shutting down our community settings and the associated donation tins, we were so chuffed when the lovely lads at Cowes Moovers agreed to help us with our move to our new home at 48 High Street, Newport.

Our events

If you would rather sign up for, or purchase tickets to, one of our fundraising events, we will post news of our events on our website, as well as third party events you can take part in to fundraise for Independent Arts.

Sign up for 70 Mile May 2022!

70 Mile May

The challenge

Walk the equivalent of the island’s costal paths, a total of 70 miles, outdoors, over the month of May.

How to sign up

There is no fee to take part, to sign up you simply need to create your fundraising page and set a fundraising target! Join the fundraising campaign and set up your own fundraising page on JustGiving. To sign up simply follow the link and hit "Start fundraising".

How to track your miles

You could use your smartphone, watch or Strava or a good old map to track your miles. If you are using Strava, you can link this directly to your fundraising page (we can help set this up!) so all your walking activities will automatically post to your page, meaning your supporters can follow how you’re getting on! If you’re using your phone, watch or map, you can upload pictures and posts to your fundraising page to keep people up to date, if you wish!

We’ve set a fundraising target of £70, equal to £1 a mile, but this is a target not an obligation! Raise what you can, set your own personal target higher if you hit your target during the challenge, and spread the word by getting other people involved. If you want to fundraise as a team or household, you can set a group target, and complete the challenge collectively!

Once you've signed up

Once you set up your page, you’ll be invited to join a private ‘Independent Arts Fundraisers’ facebook group. Within this group you can share updates, ask for advice, and see how everyone else is getting on. All you need to do once your fundraising page is up and running is share your fundraising page with friends and family, and start walking! You can approach the challenge in the way that best suits you; you could aim to walk 2.25 miles every day of the month, or do some bigger more challenging walks every weekend to make up the milage, it’s entirely up to you.

New for 2022!

In 2021, 70 Mile May had to take place almost entirely individually. In 2022, we hope to be able to see many more of you in person, and encourage people to get together for some great walks! Keep your eyes peeled for some Independent Arts organised group walks at various locations around the isle of wight, as well as some celebratory events towards the end of May! In addition to this, we have this year added a 70 Mile May Strava Club, for any fundraisers tracking their walks with Strava. This will be a group made up of fundraisers just like you, where you can encourage each other, share your walking routes, ask for tips and keep up to date with how far you’ve travelled!

The challenge will officially begin from Sunday May 1st and end Tuesday May 31st. All you need to do once your fundraising page is up and running is share your fundraising page with friends and family, and start walking!

The Big Give Christmas Challenge – thank you!

Thanks so much to everyone who has donated to Independent Arts via The Big Give Christmas Challenge and shared our Ageing Artfully campaign between November 30th and December 7th 2021. Each donation was match-funded by The Reed Foundation and we raised £4500, exceeding our Big Give target!

A huge thanks from our participants, staff, volunteers and practitioners.

What an amazing total with which Independent Arts can support more isolated and vulnerable island residents in 2022.
